What Does Code P002A Mean

Engines operate by way of a system of moving parts that open the intake valves (for allowing gas into the cylinders) and exhaust valves (which carry the vapors away). The camshaft is part of this complex timing mechanism. Some vehicles have two camshafts – a separate one for the intake and exhaust valves; “B” is the designation for the exhaust camshaft. When there’s a problem in the circuit controlling the camshaft, the timing between the crankshaft and the camshaft is affected. The PCM (powertrain control module) picks up on this discrepancy, triggering the P002A code to set.

Possible symptoms

• Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor
• Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted
• Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection

P002A Hyundai Possible Solution:

The crankshaft sensor signals the fuel injection computer or the ignition control when the cylinders are firing. This causes the ignition coil to provide a spark and the injector to inject fuel into each cylinder at the right time.If either sensor isn't working correctly, the car will run rough and the engine will be less efficient. In later car models, the car's computer can usually keep the vehicle running, but the engine warning light on the dashboard goes on to warn the driver.
