What Does P0099 Mean?

P0099 is the OBD-II generic code that indicates that the engine control module (ECM) has detected a fault in the intake air temperature sensor 2 (IAT2). This code indicates that it is not operating in the normal sensor range and that the IAT2 has intermittent or erratic sensor input to the ECM.

• The light may stay on or light intermittently as the DPF regenerates. The engine will be sluggish on acceleration.

How do you troubleshoot P0099 ?

Like the all engines, the car engine system employs specially developed hydraulic lifters (known as switching roller followers) for the P0099 code intake and exhaust valves. The lifters can be collapsed by disengaging an internal locking pin. The locking pin is disengaged using solenoids to alter oil pressure fed into the lifter.
