    What Does P0108 Mean?

P0108 is the code for a problem with the MAP electrical circuit sensor having too high voltage input to the Engine Control Unit (ECU). This means that the voltage input to the ECU is too high and that it is not in the correct range for proper engine operation to work with inputs from the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) and Throttle Position Switch (TPS).

What are the common causes of P0108 ?

As with symptoms, the common causes of code P0107 and its closely related codes, P0108 and P0109 much the same on all applications. Note however, that one common cause, a poorly running engine, could set other codes along with P0107, P0108,and P0109, depending on the particular application. Below are some common causes this group of codes-
    • Lean running conditions caused by unmetered air entering the engine
    • Misfiring conditions caused by a poorly maintained engine
    • Clogged or damaged catalytic converter(s)
    • Defective MAP sensor
    • Defective MAF sensor(If fitted)
    • Defective throttle position sensor
    • Defective barometric sensor (If fitted)
    • Open circuits
    • Shorted, burnt, or damaged wiring and connectors
    • Defective PCM (Rarely)
What are the symptoms of P0108 ?

    Check Engine Light will illuminate
In some cases, the engine may be hard starting and/or get poor fuel economy
In some cases, noticeably poor engine performance may occur

How do you troubleshoot P0108 ?

Look for damage to the tank indicating impact that may have damaged the fuel pump or sender. Oxygen sensors signal the engine management computer the amount of oxygen present in the exhaust, which is used in determining and controlling the fuel ratio. If all testing has passed so far yet you still have the same code, check your scan tool and see if it can open and close the IMRC valve.
