    What Does P0187 Mean?

OBD-II Code Powertrain Control Module (PCM) failure is defined as a Fuel Temperature Sensor "B" Circuit Low

The Fuel Temperature Sensor tells the engine control module (PCM) the temperature of the fuel. When the PCM detects an implausible signal from the Fuel Temperature Sensor, the PCM will set code P0187.

What are the common causes of P0187 ?

Fuel pump failure is by far the most common cause of this code setting condition. Other causes may include a defective fuel temperature/consumption sensor, open, shorted, or damaged wiring or connectors, or a faulty PCM.

How do you troubleshoot P0187 ?
    • Repairing damaged or broken fuel temperature sensor wires
    • Repairing faulty grounds
    • Repairing fuel temperature sensor connector corrosion
    • Replacing fuel pump
    • Replacing fuel temperature sensor
    • Reprogramming, updating, or replacing the power control module (PCM)
