    What Does P0193 Mean?

OBD-II Code P0193 is defined as a Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) needs to know the fuel pressure at all times so it can effectively control the fuel injectors and deliver the optimal amount of fuel into the engine's combustion chambers for maximum power and economy while maintaining the lowest tailpipe emissions.

What are the common causes of P0193 ?
    • Low or no fuel
    • Wiring that is exposed, broken, shorted, or corroded
    • Connectors that are corroded
    • Fuel filter that is clogged
    • Defective fuel pump relay
    • Bad fuel rail sensor
    • Defective fuel pump
How do you troubleshoot P0193 ?

With the valve disconnected, the red voltmeter lead should be attached to the IMRC valve power wire and the black voltmeter lead connected to ground. If all testing has passed so far yet you still have the same code, check your scan tool and see if it can open and close the IMRC valve.

    Process Tips

Diagnostic trouble code P0193 is not difficult to diagnose and repair. Thus, it always pays to have a qualified technician to look after your vehicle should this error code arise.

Diagnosing this code requires the engine to be in good running shape, without unmetered air entering the engine. If other codes that relates to misfiring condition, lean running or air entering the engine is present, then you must first fix those error codes before P0193.

Fortunately, P0193 is a fairly common OBD code, meaning that it applies to all makes and models of vehicles made after 1996.
