    What Does p0247 Mean?

OBD-II Code Powertrain Control Module (PCM) failure is defined as a Turbocharger/Supercharger Wastegate Solenoid "B"

The Wastegate solenoid allows unneeded boost generated by the turbo or supercharger to vent the system. The engine control module (PCM) controls the wastegate solenoid. If the PCM cannot control the solenoid, it will set code P0247.The PCM may also disable the turbo or supercharger to prevent further damage to the system.

What are the common causes of p0247 ?

The most common causes of this code include a faulty wastegate solenoid, shorted or open wiring in the wastegate solenoid circuit, loose, corroded, or disconnected electrical connectors in the wastegate solenoid.

What are the symptoms of p0247 ?

Symptoms may include reduced engine acceleration, whining or rattling noises from the turbocharger or turbo pipes, abnormal smoke from the exhaust, spark plug fouling, excessive engine or transmission temperature, hissing noises from the turbocharger wastegate and/or hoses, and an overall lack of engine performance. Additional codes may include other turbocharger codes, engine misfire codes, or knock sensor codes. Cylinder detonation is another possibility, due to high engine temperatures experienced when boost pressure is excessive. The boost pressure gauge (if so equipped) will exhibit abnormally high levels of boost pressure.

How do you troubleshoot p0247 ?

While fuel economy was increased, acceleration was seriously compromised, and the loss of engine vacuum led to a dangerous loss of braking assist when the P0247 code system was in four-cylinder mode. In addition to these issues, while the company proposed a hydraulically controlled system that could be switched from within the car, the version they implemented had to be manually changed in the engine compartment using hand tools.
