What Does P0265 Mean?

OBD-II Code P0265 is defined as a Cylinder 2 Injector Circuit High

The engine control module (PCM) has special transistors called "drivers" to turn the Fuel Injectors on and off in the Fuel Injection System. If the PCM cannot control the fuel injector, it will set code P0265.

What are the common causes of P0265 ?

The most common cause of this code is damage to wiring caused by wildlife. The warm area atop the engine provides shelter for small animals, where they proceed to gnaw the wiring for some strange reason. Other causes include a faulty fuel injector, clogged fuel injector, corroded or loose electrical wiring or connector faces, or a faulty fuel injector driver in the PCM.



How do you troubleshoot P0265 ?

Look for missing ground strap or a rusty ground where the fuel tank is grounded to the frame. Check for damage to the wiring harness connector. If all testing has passed so far yet you still have the same code, check your scan tool and see if it can open and close the IMRC valve. If the engine displays a miss and there wasn't a code, determine which cylinder is misfiring. If the exhaust manifold is visible, spay or pour a small amount of water on each cylinder exhaust port. Water will evaporate immediately on good cylinders and slowly on the missing cylinder. If this can't be accomplished pull the plugs and check the condition.
