    What Does P0326 Mean?

    OBD-II Code P0326 is defined as a Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Range/Performance

The knock sensor tells the engine control module (PCM) that the engine has an excessive vibration resulting from an incorrect fuel and air mixture. If the PCM does not receive a signal from the knock sensor, it will set code P0326. The check engine light may or may not be illuminated.

What are the common causes of P0326 ?

This code is sometimes accompanied by other codes, and it is important to address these other issues first. If no other engine issues exist but a P0326 code is still present, some potential causes of the P0326 code may include:
    • Damaged wiring or connectors associated with the knock sensor
    • A faulty knock sensor
    • A connector that has come unplugged
    • A faulty ECM

How do you troubleshoot P0326 ?

You might continue by connecting the scanner to the vehicle diagnostic connector and retrieving all stored codes and freeze frame data. With the valve disconnected, the red voltmeter lead should be attached to the IMRC valve power wire and the black voltmeter lead connected to ground.

    Process Tips

Diagnostic trouble code P0326 is not difficult to diagnose and repair. Thus, it always pays to have a qualified technician to look after your vehicle should this error code arise.

Diagnosing this code requires the engine to be in good running shape, without unmetered air entering the engine. If other codes that relates to misfiring condition, lean running or air entering the engine is present, then you must first fix those error codes before P0326.

Fortunately, P0326 is a fairly common OBD code, meaning that it applies to all makes and models of vehicles made after 1996.
