    What Does P0334 Mean?

    OBD-II Code P0334 is defined as a Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Intermittent

    The knock sensor tells the engine control module (PCM) that the engine has an excessive vibration resulting from an incorrect fuel and air mixture. If the PCM does not receive a signal from the knock sensor, it will set code P0334. The check engine light may or may not be illuminated.

    What are the common causes of P0334 ?
    • An air leak forward of the DPF will change the sensor readings resulting in the code
    • Rusty exhaust systems, cracked exhaust manifolds or damaged or missing gaskets or donuts will cause air leaks.
    • Fuel with a large percentage of sulfur will clog the DPF quickly

    How do you troubleshoot P0334 ?

    Deactivation of cylinders is achieved by releasing a synchroniser pin that normally interlocks the cam follower and rocker arms. P0334 code resolves the synchroniser pin is released using hydraulic pressure which is controlled by a dedicated solenoid.
