What are the common causes of P0482 ?

The electrical system which controls the cooling fan circuits is made up of multiple components, which means that there could be a number of different causes for P0482 to set in a vehicle:
    • Faulty cooling fan motor
    • Faulty cooling fan motor relay
    • Damaged or loose connectors or wiring
    • Faulty engine coolant temperature sensor

How do you troubleshoot P0482 ?

Look for rubbing, scraping, bare wires, worn spots or melted plastic connectors. Pull the connectors apart and carefully look at the terminals (the metal parts) inside the connectors. With the valve disconnected, the red voltmeter lead should be attached to the IMRC valve power wire and the black voltmeter lead connected to ground.
