    What Does P0525 Mean?

The PCM is part of the system that assists the cruise control in controlling vehicle speed. If the PCM detects an issue with the cruise control based on the voltage reading from the servo control circuit, it will run a self-instituted test of the system. If there is an abnormal result for the voltage/resistance level within the cruise control servo control circuit, it will store this code.

What are the common causes of P0525 ?
    • Rarely - faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM-programming required after replacement)
    • Rough running engine due to misfiring plugs. Many engines have misfire codes to indicate the cylinder effected, such as P0307 for number 7.
    • Fuel with a large percentage of sulfur will clog the DPF quickly

How do you troubleshoot P0525 ?

The valves of each cylinder are kept closed using a pair of arms that replace the conventional engine's roller-type rocker arm. P0525 code one of these arms follows the cam profile while the second arm connects to the valves. During normal engine operation the two arms are joined by a locking pin.
