    What Does P0528 Mean?

    OBD-II Code Cooling fans may stay on all the time is defined as a Fan Speed Sensor Circuit no Signal

    The purpose of the electric cooling fan system is to provide extra cooling capacity to the conventional radiator cooling system on hot days, and/or when the A/C is on, an/or when the vehicle is being driven in stop and go traffic which causes insufficient Airflow over the radiator. When the engine control module (PCM) cannot control the cooling fan as desired, it will set code P0528.

    What are the common causes of P0528 ?
    • Faulty Fan Speed Sensor
    • Fan Speed Sensor harness is open or shorted
    • Fan Speed Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
    • Faulty fan clutch
    • Faulty PCM

    How do you troubleshoot P0528 ?

    Look for missing ground strap or a rusty ground where the fuel tank is grounded to the frame. Check for damage to the wiring harness connector. Check to make sure they are not burnt or corroded. If in doubt, get some Electrical Contact cleaner at any parts store if cleaning of the terminals is needed.
