P0565 Code - Cruise Control On Signal Malfunction

What Does P0565 Mean?

The cruise control system keeps the vehicle running at a fixed speed until a signal canceling this fixed speed is received. When the main switch is turned on with the vehicle in the running mode, the battery voltage is applied to the Engine Control Module (ECM). When a signal from the control switch is input to the ECM while the vehicle is in a state, the ECM controls fuel injection to make a car go at a steady speed you want. Also, while the system is operating, "CRUISE" indicator lamp in the meter assembly lights up. The ECM monitors the Cruise Control Switch signal and sets the OBDII codes when the Cruise Control Switch is not to factory specifications.

What are the common causes of P0565 ?

• An air leak forward of the DPF will change the sensor readings resulting in the code
• Rusty exhaust systems, cracked exhaust manifolds or damaged or missing gaskets or donuts will cause air leaks.
• Fuel with a large percentage of sulfur will clog the DPF quickly

How do you troubleshoot P0565 ?

The engine system, in conjuction with the engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM), activates the P0565 code solenoid valve to control oil pressure to the engine mechanism that is installed in the valve system to switch valve timing between Low and High.If the engine solenoid valve has an open or short circuit, a DTC is stored.
