P0643 Code - Sensor Reference Voltage 'A' Circuit High

What Does P0643 Mean?

This code indicates that a fault has been detected in the sensor reference voltage “A” circuit. The PCM or one of the other supporting control modules has detected this fault. These control modules may include (but are not limited to) the alternative fuel control module, the body control module, the antilock brake control module, the instrument panel control module, the fuel injection control module, the turbo control module, the anti-theft module, the cruise control module, the traction control module, proximity alert module, and the climate control module. The letter “A” isolates a particular area of the circuit more than a particular component or wire.

What are the common causes of P0643 ?

• An air leak forward of the DPF will change the sensor readings resulting in the code
• Rusty exhaust systems, cracked exhaust manifolds or damaged or missing gaskets or donuts will cause air leaks.
• Fuel with a large percentage of sulfur will clog the DPF quickly
