    What Does P0655 Mean?

OBD-II Code Powertrain Control Module (PCM) failure is defined as a Engine Hot Lamp Output Control Circuit

The Engine Overheating Warning light should illuminated for a few seconds when the key is initially turned on. If the warning light fails to light, the engine control module (PCM) will set code P0655.

What are the common causes of P0655 ?

The most common cause of this code being stored comes from defects in system circuitry. Loose, broken, or corroded wiring and electrical connectors are common and should be investigated first. Other possible causes include a defective PCM, faulty engine over temp indicator bulb, or bad engine temperature sensor. If there are other codes related to engine temperature, that were stored prior to this code being stored, diagnose and repair those before attempting to diagnose this code. Freeze frame data can be useful when diagnosing this code.

How do you troubleshoot P0655 ?

With the valve disconnected, the red voltmeter lead should be attached to the IMRC valve power wire and the black voltmeter lead connected to ground. You might continue by connecting the scanner to the vehicle diagnostic connector and retrieving all stored codes and freeze frame data.
