    What does P0687 Mean?

OBD-II Code Hard or no start in cold weather is defined as a ECM/PCM Power Relay Control Circuit High

The engine computer (PCM) power relay controls battery voltage to the PCM. If the PCM detects an incorrect voltage signal from the power relay, it will set code P0687.

What are the common causes of P0687 ?
    • Weak battery
    • Low voltage while cranking
    • Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM) power relay
    • ECM power relay harness is open or shorted
    • ECM power relay circuit poor electrical connection
    • Blown ECM fuse
    • Faulty ECM

How do you troubleshoot P0687 ?

Look at the plug wires to make sure they are not burnt or laying on the exhaust. Look for missing ground strap or a rusty ground where the fuel tank is grounded to the frame. Check for damage to the wiring harness connector. Now, clear the codes and test-drive the vehicle to see if the code is reset.
