    What does P0756 Mean?

The PCM has detected an abnormality in shift solenoid B. The computer controlled automatic transmission uses shift solenoids to manage the transfer of fluid between hydraulic circuits and actuate a change in transmission gear ratio. Varying gear ratios are needed to increase and decrease vehicle speed, maximize engine performance, and optimize fuel efficiency.

What are the common causes of P0756 ?

There are a number of causes that could be behind this code appearing. They are:
    • Hydraulic blockages occurring inside the fluid passages of the internal transmission
    • Low amounts of transmission fluid
    • Failures having to do with the mechanical aspects of the internal transmission
    • Dirty transmission fluid It’s also worth pointing out that the actual computers could be wrong. The PCM or the vehicle’s transmission control module could both be at fault, though this tends to be pretty rare.

How do you troubleshoot P0756 ?

Pack the connector cavity with dielectric silicone compound (same stuff they use for light bulb sockets and spark plug wires) and reassemble. Look for damage to the tank indicating impact that may have damaged the fuel pump or sender.
