    What does P0769 Mean?

OBD-II Code Transmission may not shift properly is defined as a Shift Solenoid "D" Intermittent

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) uses Shift Solenoids to control the hydraulic pressure in the transmission which is needed to apply the various clutch packs in the transmission that provide the different gear ratios needed to efficiently propel the vehicle down the roadways. When the TCM detects a pressure control solenoid is not performing as desired, it will set code P 0769.

What are the common causes of P0769 ?

Common causes include a faulty shift solenoid, hydraulic blockages inside the internal transmission fluid passages, mechanical internal transmission failures, low transmission fluid, dirty or contaminated transmission fluid, a faulty PCM or transmission control module.

How do you troubleshoot P0769 ?

There are currently two main types of cylinder deactivation used today, depending on the type of engine. P0769 code for the pushrod design which uses solenoids to alter the oil pressure delivered to the lifters. In their collapsed state, the lifters are unable to elevate their companion pushrods under the valve rocker arms, resulting in valves that cannot be actuated and remain closed.
