    What does P0774 Mean?

OBD-II Code Transmission may not shift properly is defined as a Shift Solenoid "E" Intermittent

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) uses Shift Solenoids to control the hydraulic pressure in the transmission which is needed to apply the various clutch packs in the transmission that provide the different gear ratios needed to efficiently propel the vehicle down the roadways. When the TCM detects a pressure control solenoid is not performing as desired, it will set code P0774.

What are the common causes of P0774 ?
    • Low level of automatic transmission fluid (ATF)
    • Failed shift solenoid
    • Blocked internal passages inside transmission’s hydraulic circuits
    • Dirty/contaminated ATF
    • Low internal ATF pressures
    • Internal mechanical failures
    • Failed PCM
    • Failed transmission control module

How do you troubleshoot P0774 ?

Like the all engines, the car engine system employs specially developed hydraulic lifters (known as switching roller followers) for the P0774 code intake and exhaust valves. The lifters can be collapsed by disengaging an internal locking pin. The locking pin is disengaged using solenoids to alter oil pressure fed into the lifter.
