    What does P0779 Mean?

Regarding the P0779 code, it would probably be worthwhile to carefully inspect the wire harness near the intake manifold bracket. This is done most easily from below the car in the area near the oil filter. When you see P0779 engine fault code on your engine code reader this description will help you.

What are the common causes of P0779 ?

Several problems may cause a P0779 code including:
    • Low transmission fluid
    • Dirty or contaminated transmission fluid
    • Damaged or defective electronic pressure control solenoid
    • Hydraulic blockage inside transmission fluid passages
    • Transmission failure
    • Damaged or defective transmission control module
    • Damaged or defective ECM (rare)

How do you troubleshoot P0779 ?

Replace the oxygen sensor that is downstream from the catalytic converter on the side of the engine that does not contain cylinder #1. Also, if a oxygen sensor code stating "heater circuit malfunction" the sensor has most probably failed. With the valve disconnected, the red voltmeter lead should be attached to the IMRC valve power wire and the black voltmeter lead connected to ground. Look for rubbing, scraping, bare wires, worn spots or melted plastic connectors. Pull the connectors apart and carefully look at the terminals (the metal parts) inside the connectors.
