    What does P0801 Mean?

    OBD-II Code Transmission may not shift into reverse is defined as a Reverse Inhibit Control Circuit

    The Reverse Inhibit Solenoid (Lockout Solenoid) prevents a manual transmission from being able to go into reverse at the wrong time. If this solenoid fails to operate properly, code P0804 will be stored.

    What are the common causes of P0801 ?
    • An air leak forward of the DPF will change the sensor readings resulting in the code
    • Rusty exhaust systems, cracked exhaust manifolds or damaged or missing gaskets or donuts will cause air leaks.
    • Rarely - faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM-programming required after replacement)
