What are the common causes of P0808 ?

The most common causes of this type of malfunction code being stored are due to a defective or misadjusted clutch position sensor. Other possible causes include shorted, open, or corroded wiring and/or electrical connectors.

How do you troubleshoot P0808 ?

With the valve disconnected, the red voltmeter lead should be attached to the IMRC valve power wire and the black voltmeter lead connected to ground. Now, clear the codes and test-drive the vehicle to see if the code is reset. Replace the oxygen sensor that is downstream from the catalytic converter on the side of the engine that does not contain cylinder #1. Also, if a oxygen sensor code stating "heater circuit malfunction" the sensor has most probably failed.
