    What does P0813 Mean?

    OBD-II Code Reverse lights may not operate is defined as a Reverse Output Circuit

    The Reverse Input Sensor tells the engine control module (PCM) that the transmission is in reverse. When the PCM detects an incorrect signal from the Reverse Input Sensor, the PCM will set code P0813.

    What are the common causes of P0813 ?
    • Rough running engine due to misfiring plugs. Many engines have misfire codes to indicate the cylinder effected, such as P0307 for number 7.
    • Rarely - faulty Powertrain ontrol Module (PCM-programming required after replacement)

    How do you troubleshoot P0813 ?

    The valves of each cylinder are kept closed using a pair of arms that replace the conventional engine's roller-type rocker arm. P0813 code one of these arms follows the cam profile while the second arm connects to the valves. During normal engine operation the two arms are joined by a locking pin.
