    What does P0877 Mean?

This code indicates that the PCM has detected a transmission fluid pressure which is not within a predetermined limit. When this occurs, a code is stored and a malfunction indicator illuminated. Some vehicles will also enter “limp-in” mode

What are the common causes of P0877 ?

    Causes can include:
    • Low transmission fluid level
    • Failing transmission
    • Engine overheating
    • Slipping transmission
    • Failed transmission temperature sensor
    • Failed transmission high pressure pump
    • Failed transmission fluid pressure sensor

How do you troubleshoot P0877 ?

There are currently two main types of cylinder deactivation used today, depending on the type of engine. P0877 code for the pushrod design which uses solenoids to alter the oil pressure delivered to the lifters. In their collapsed state, the lifters are unable to elevate their companion pushrods under the valve rocker arms, resulting in valves that cannot be actuated and remain closed.
