    What does P0887 Mean?

    OBD-II Code Transmission may not shift properly is defined as a TCM Power Relay Control Circuit High

    If the Transmission Control Module (TCM) does not receive the correct amount of voltage, it will send a message to the engine control module (PCM) to set code P0887.

    What are the common causes of P0887 ?

    By far the most common cause of this code is from a defective traction control ON/OFF switch. Liquids spilled into the traction control switch are a very common cause of this type of failure.. Other causes may include open, shorted, corroded, or otherwise damaged wiring and/or electrical connectors. Technicians also report the presence of excessive corrosion in the sensor connector as the cause of this code being stored.

    How do you troubleshoot P0887 ?

    The engine system, in conjuction with the engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM), activates the P0887 code solenoid valve to control oil pressure to the engine mechanism that is installed in the valve system to switch valve timing between Low and High.If the engine solenoid valve has an open or short circuit, a DTC is stored.
