    What does P0894 Mean?

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the difference between engine speed and transmission output speed. In D3 drive range with Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) engaged, the engine speed should closely match the transmission output speed. In D4 drive range, with the TCC engaged, the TCC slip speed should be -20 to +50 RPM.

What are the common causes of P0894 ?
    • An air leak forward of the DPF will change the sensor readings resulting in the code
    • Rusty exhaust systems, cracked exhaust manifolds or damaged or missing gaskets or donuts will cause air leaks.
    • Fuel with a large percentage of sulfur will clog the DPF quickly

How do you troubleshoot P0894 ?

Some of the repairs for the P0894 trouble code include:
    • Topping off the transmission fluid
    • Replacing the transmission fluid
    • Replacing the wires, connectors, and harnesses in the internal transmission
    • Replacing the shift solenoids
    • In rare cases, replacing the TCM or PCM
