    What does P0940 Mean?

    OBD-II Code Transmission Control Module (TCM) failure is defined as a Hydraulic Oil Temperature Sensor Circuit High

    The clutch uses hydraulic pressure to engage and disengage the clutch as well as shift gears. The Hydraulic Oil Temperature Sensor tells the Transmission Control Module (TCM) the temperature of the system. If the sensor sends back an implausible signal, code P0940 is stored.

    How do you troubleshoot P0940 ?

    Check to make sure they are not burnt or corroded. If in doubt, get some Electrical Contact cleaner at any parts store if cleaning of the terminals is needed. Look for missing ground strap or a rusty ground where the fuel tank is grounded to the frame. Check for damage to the wiring harness connector.
